Grow Up

kidsSpiritual maturity isn’t moving beyond the message of the cross and onto other things. Rather, spiritual maturity moves us deeper into our revelation of the work of the cross. Whether you’ve been saved for 50 days or 50 years – there are no grace graduates. In this, we become acutely aware that we need the cross every day. Every bit as much as the unbeliever we give a Bible to. His mercy is new every morning for a reason.

When we see the message of the gospel as something that others need, our passion wanes as we contemplate about whether we are gifted enough or “called” to share the gospel. We leave it up to those who we deem to be more suited.

When we see the message of the gospel as something that we desperately need, our entire outlook on personal witness transforms. The Great Commission ceases to be a task and becomes a compelling, loving force from within us. After all, the message of the gospel is not about what we need to do. It’s what He did that we could never do for ourselves.
